Sack IGP Idris Now! – BYO Tells Buhari

The Buhari Youth Organisation, Lagos State Chapter has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to immeidiately sanction the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris for defying his order on relocation to Benue state following killings perpetrated by suspected Fulani herdsmen.

The group, in a statement sent to Wednesday, 14th March, 2018, said the action of the Police Boss “indirectly ridicules the presence of government in the state, noting that the he ”failed to instil prompt peace in the embattled region of the state due to his inaction.

BYO wondered why the Mr Idris was waiting for directive from the Presidency before doing his job as the head of Police.

”It is disheartening to acknowledge that the Chief Security Officer of the Federal Republic of Nigeria had to wait for the directions of the President to be called to address crucial mayhem and massacre in Benue state and yet, decided to renege the oath of his office by taking solace in another state while some Nigerians whose taxes are being used to provide convenience and security to the Mr. Ibrahim Idris were begging for their dare lives to be saved in the hands of the heinous armed herdsmen, the statement jointly signed by the group’s State Coordinator, Abdulwaheed Odunuga; and State Secretary, Rasaq Aderibigbe reads.

“The serving Police officers in the troubled region could not have done more than what their role model and leader, Ibrahim Idris did at that moment. In a war where the commander is hiding, the combatants will either do the same or defy orders.

It said the the continuous service of Ibrahim Idris as the Inspector General of Police will amount to a bad omen as a symbol of insubordination and unpatriotic personality and must be address instantly to forestall a situation in a country where security is being entrusted in the hands of insecurity.

BYO therefore urged President Muhammadu Buhari to relieve Mr Idris of his job and appoint a competent  and committed superior Police officer as inspector-general.

“We are recommending that the President should review the profiles of superior serving officers for a competent, committed patriotic officer who will motivate his men with passion for oneness, selflessness, dignity and security of the nation in order to boost the current security state, the statement concluded.
