A former house of representatives member, Hon Dayo Bush Alebiosu, has backed calls for the probe of former president Olusegun Obasanjo over the $16billion spent on power without improvement in the energy sector.
Bush joined the call for Obasanjo’s probe while speaking to BreezeReporters on the sidelines of the 9th Abduwahid Islamic Foundation annual lecture and prayer for the nation held at the weekend in Ketu area of Lagos.
According to him, there was need to examine what the situation was before 1999 when Obasanjo came into power and what he left.
Bush, a two-term federal lawmaker between 2007 and 2015 representing Kosofe Federal Constituency in Lagos, noted that if investigation showed that the money was not judiciously spent, then the former president under whose watch the money was spent should be probed.
He said, ”First of all, we have had a problem, the power situation in this country is in chaotic state right now.
”If $16billion has been spent without us getting result, then something must have gone wrong and it’s important to find out what went wrong.
”if that has to result in a probe, then so be it, Bush said.
