The Lagos state chapter of Buhari Youth Organisation has said the emergence of President Muhammadu Buhari as the Chairman of Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) justifies the good intents and works of the leader for a better Nigeria.
The organisation in statement jointly signed by Abdulwaheed Odunuga, the State Coordinator and Adekunle Aderibigbe, General Secretary, noted that it is overwhelmed with the joyful news of the election of Mr Buhari as ECOWAS Chairman.
BYO said contrary to assertion by some critics back home in Nigeria, the election showed that other African leaders believed in President Buhari.
”Contrary to what illusion that his critics portray, the Czar of Anti-Corruption was elected at the 53rd Session of the Authority of Heads of State and Government of ECOWAS that was held at the capital of Togo, Lome even though he did not campaign nor offer himself for the post, but the congregation of the African leaders were all convinced that they will be served duly by the epitome of African leadership of our time.
The Lagos BYO urged other Presidential aspirants to relax their aspirations till 2023 for president Buhari to lead Nigeria for another four years.
”We are calling on all Nigerians and other Presidential aspirants to relax their aspirations till 2023 when the coasts will be cleared for them to take mantle of leadership from the beloved son of Africa. His election as ECOWAS Chairman without campaign is a warning to other political parties not to bother featuring a Presidential candidate. We also pray for God’s guidance, wisdom and protection for President Muhammadu Buhari in the course of discharging his duties to the nation and the world”.
